Besakih Great Temple (Pura Agung Besakih)

Besakih Temple located in Besakih village, Rendang district, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Besakih Temple is a Temple complex in the village of Besakih and it is the most important, the largest and holiest temple of Balinese Hinduism. This temple we also called “Mother Temple”. This temple is one from nine temple which is very important for Hinduism in Bali or we called Dewata Nawa Sanga. Pura Besakih was build in 20H of land and has 46 big temple and small, and devide become three part. First part is 20 of Temples Penyungsungan Jagat, Pura Kawitan 17 temples and Pura Dadia 9 temples. Besakih Temple located about 1000mfsl and from here you can enjoy beautiful panorama with about 18-25 degress celcius. And on the way to Besakih temple,there are several places of interested will be visited like Penglipuran village, Tukad Cepung waterfall.
What I can do here?
In this temple for Hinduism in Bali, we use for pray and do a lot of kind of ceremony. But for the tourist here you have to complete your self with sarong to cover your body become and look polite. Here you can visit all the area of temple except there is some temple or some places with the prayer maybe you will not allow to enter. There is retriction before you enter and will explain by your guide.
Who are suitable to visit this temple?
It is open for anyone, except woman period will not allow to enter our holy place or the temple. Here we also need to walk, for elder people or people use wheelchair will be bit difficult. Hope in the future will be better acces.
When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit is 10am. This time most of the time can see Mount Agung normally shiny and not claudy. This temple it is open from 08.00-17.00. But will be open 24 hours for the Balinese Hinduism prayer.

This object has big story of starting Hinduism in Bali. We have prist who come from India his name Rsi Markandya was do meditate to make this temple hardly finaly succesfull after he got ways from God to do planting 5 elements such as Gold, Silver, Bronce, Copper and Diamond. This was burried with the kendi or basuki and become besakih means “keselamatan” or safety. Here you will see 46 temples big and small.
